Ancestor Altar

Hello January,

This month I wanted to talk about connecting, working and being one with your ancestors. Spending time with your spirits, these beautiful spirits will appeal to be your continued protection. I have learned in the past few years that this world is destructive, hateful, evil and jealous people that will send hate and evil eyes all at once just because they don’t like to see you prosper at all. I have also learned that is todays modern world people can send psychic attacks without them even knowing they are sending it. Evil eye is surely common very common in this modern world. And this is why I can’t stress enough how often you should clean your home (especially your floors, windows and mirrors) but also cleansing yourself at all times with people’s negative and funky energies and their foul beliefs. I think we all know by now what tools to get in order to cleanse ourselves, but I will list some but not all here:

Here are some commons ones

Florida Water

White Sage

Cedar

(I’ll be doing a smudging class 101 in February so be on the lookout for that!)

What to include in your ancestor altar

Cloth (anything that calls you or color that attracts you)

White candle

Glass of water

White flowers (or any flowers that calls you to add)

Remember this is your altar with your ancestors, it is the way you make it to be yours

Photos, a photo of a deceased loved one alone can’t be with someone alive.

Offerings

A portion of your meal (what you made for dinner)

Sweet like cakes desserts etc. or anything they like while they were alive

Tobacco (you can smoke it with them)

Cigarettes

Liquor

Their favorite food

Favorite stuff they owned etc.

Clean your altar on the same day weekly. I clean mine every Monday or when I see it is necessary to do so. Spending regular time with them in the mornings or evening or both, is all up to you. Light an incense as well to set the vibe.

Cafecito With Your Ancestors

Morning is the most magical time of the day. When the sun beams high into the sky and dawn greets us with a new beginning of a full, incredible gorgeous day. Many people use this time to make magic and perform rituals to start their day right. Coffee is pretty much the morning beverage of choice for a lot of people, some people prefer tea, hot chocolate or any kind of drink for their ancestors

A little coffee background for thought……..

According to legends drink was discovered around 850 bce by a goat tender named Kaldi, who noticed how excited his goats were after they had eaten the berries of the coffee plant. So, he figured if it was good for the goats, it was good for humans too. So, it began the beginning of coffee consumption, but it seems that people like it way more than goats did. Coffee is class stimulant so it would make perfect sense that you can use this beverage not only to wake yourself up but to also connect with your ancestors.

How to start your morning

Pour two cups of coffee in the morning, one for yourself and one for your ancestors. As you stand before your altar, or sit in your front of your altar  and you may wish to say the names of your beloved ancestors. You may also remain silent, if you choose too or you may wish to have a full conversation with them, catching them up on all the events in your life and focusing on the advice they would like to give you.

What to do with the coffee afterward

You can dispose of it to earth or wherever it calls you to do so. You can have it in your altar all day or when you have finished drinking yours you can throw it out.

Using coffee in your daily practice!!!!

Brewed coffee can be added in small amounts to floor wash to energize your magic and connect you more spiritually. A tablespoon can be added to the bath or wash to remove bad energy. A small pinch of coffee can be sprinkled on doorsteps and windowsills to help you with luck and open opportunities for you.

Coffee is magical I must say!!!!!

So, working with your ancestors with offerings of coffee is one of the simplest but very powerful things that you can do.  You can share your morning coffee with them as you discuss your day or drink in silence and think of them their strength and fortitude.

In my case I love talking to my ancestors letting them know how grateful I am and  for standing by my side, guiding me to the right path making sure the stumbles I take I bounce back!!!!

 MORNING INTENTIONS

Breathe deeply and fully

Don’t take yourself too seriously

Remain clear and energized

Trust your decisions today

Practice letting go of anything not serve you
